The high school main office and the guidance offices will be open the week of Aug. 29 and high school guidance counselors will be available during that time, Superintendent John J. Hurley said.
Here's a breakdown of the schedules by school:
Rutherford High School – Students are asked to report to home room by 7:55 a.m. Home room assignments will be posted on the exterior doors of the school.
Pierrepont School – Students should report by 8:05 a.m. Fourth-graders will assemble in the play areas inside the gate at Lincoln Ave., fifth-graders will assemble on the upper playground off of East Pierrepont Avenue, and sixth-graders on the lower field off Van Ness Avenue. In the case of inclement weather, fourth-graders will go directly to the multi-purpose room while the fifth- and sixth-graders will head to the gym. All students will receive opening day directions by mail.
Union Middle School – The school day begins at 7:55 am. Students can enter the building through grade-level doors. In the case of inclement weather, students should report to the auditorium. Entry to the school will not be granted before 7:40 a.m.
Door 2 is on Belford Avenue. Door 4 is by the playground. Door 5 is on Springfield Avenue, along with Door 6, which is closest to Union Avenue.
Washington School – Third-grade students should report to the Wood Street entrance by 8:30 a.m. Teachers will lead them into the building. First- and second-graders will meet in the main driveway/courtyard area. The second-graders should meet closest to the triple doors in the playground area while the first-graders assemble on the blacktop.
In the event of inclement weather, those students should report directly to the multipurpose room.
Pre-K 3 and Pre-K ABA students should meet by the triple doors at 8:55 a.m. Pre-K 4 students meet there at 12:25 p.m.
Lincoln School – All students should report to the gym by 8:30 a.m., where they will be met by their teachers. PreK-3 students attend from 9-11:30 a.m. and PreK-4 students attend from 12:30-3 p.m. All preschool students enter via the main doors on Montross Ave. Doors open five minutes prior to the start of the respective start time. All kindergarten students will report to The Kindergarten Center (Sylvan School) at 109 Sylvan Street at 8:45 a.m.
